Zooey Deschanel and her husband of two years Ben Gibbard split.

Zooey Deschanel has split from her husband, Death Cab for Cutie singer Ben Gibbard, after two years of marriage. The 31-year-old actress and her husband musician wed near Seattle in late September 2009. The pair were introduced by their mutual music manager.

“It was mutual and amicable. There was no third party involved.”-Zooey Deschanel’s publicist Lauren Auslander confirmed the split.

A year before they tied the knot, the actress and the singer sang The Everly Brothers’ “Dream” at the Manifest Hope Gallery in Denver during the 2008 Democratic National Convention. And one year later the duo performed “I’ll Never Find Another You” together on stage in Seattle.

The split is likely to come as a surprise to fans as Gibbard was gushing about his love for Zooey Deschanel as recently as September in an interview with New York magazine.

“I’d seen her movies and obviously thought she was very beautiful. [When we were introduced] I was awestruck that she was even talking to me!”-Ben said.

Zooey Deschanel ‘New Girl’ Debut Was A Hit!

Zooey Deschanel’s new citcome series premiered last night on CBS at 9 p.m. The show did way better then expected; pulling in 10.1 million viewers. New Girl is now the highest-rated fall sitcom premiere since The Bernie Mac Show ten years ago. It comparisons to Rising Hope who was in the same slot last year, ratings were up 52 percent.

Zooey Deschanel plays the role of Jess an “adorkable” (as Fox calls her) girl who was just dumped by her cheating boyfriend. Left with no where to go she moves in with three male roommates (Max Greenfield, Jake M. Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr., who will be replaced in the next episode). Max Greenfield plays Schmidt who is a ladies man in his own mind, Jake M. Johnson plays the role of Nick who is dealing with a pretty bad breakup of his own and Damon Wayans Jr.takes on the role of Coach who is a personal trainer who is clueless when it comes to talking with women.

The new roommates will work together to help each other out and give advice where needed. This is even when the advice is better left unsaid. While Zooey plays a great role it’s believed that her male co-stars will definitely have to pick up the slack and keep the comedy rolling. They invent an assume gadget that is needed in many bachelor homes called “The Douchebag Jar”. Max Greenfield aka Schmidt will be to pay a dollar to “The Douchebag Jar” every time he’s caught acting like one. Can’t help but wonder, how much his douchebag tendencies will cost him?

This is one sitcom that is showing a lot of promise tune in next week Tuesday at 9 p.m. on FOX.
