Married and overjoyed: Sir Paul McCartney and new wife Nancy Shevell leaving the Marylebone Register Office in London.

Nancy Shevell wore an elegant long-sleeved dress in ivory silk, with a single bloom in her hair and a bouquet of pink and crean tea roses. The dress was designed by Paul McCartney’s daughter, Stella. The bride was carrying a simple bouquet of mixed coloured roses while the groom wore a smart navy suit and a light blue tie. Sir Paul’s youngest daughter, seven-year-old Beatrice, from his marriage to Heather Mills, was bridesmaid.

Fans and members of the media waited outside the Marylebone registry office before the couple's wedding ceremony.

The married couple, beaming and relaxed, drove off for a gala reception at their nearby home in the St. John’s Wood neighborhood. Champagne and cake were waiting for them, along with guests like Ringo Starr, in a casual black T-shirt under his suit, and Barbara Walters, a second cousin of the bride. Paul McCartney reportedly performed a song he composed especially for the occasion, along with Let Me Roll It, Miss Nancy Shevell’s favorite Wings record.

“Paul was in such good spirits and looked very, very proud indeed. His love for Nancy clearly runs very deep indeed.”-one of the guests said.

After the celebrations Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell are expected to fly to America to mark their nuptials with a second wedding at the Hamptons, (the exclusive seaside enclave two hours from New York) where they both own home.

Congratulations to the married couple!
